Katherine Gifford is an architect based in Morningside, Brisbane. Katherine has worked for Jeremy Salmon Architect in Auchenflower, Brisbane for almost two decades as project architect on a wide variety of new and renovated homes with the occasional commercial project. Jeremy Salmon Architect’s work has frequently been recognised by the Australian Institute of Architects awards program. ‘Nanna’s Verandah’, a project for which Katherine was project designer, was recognised for its superior sustainable design by the Australian Institute of Architect’s Queensland State Award and a Regional Commendation in Residential Design.

Katherine provides a highly personalised design service working in close communication with clients to tailor homes and commercial interiors to their individual needs. Katherine has developed good working relationships with colleagues, builders, engineers, surveyors and town planners whilst acquiring a deep understanding of the entire design and building process.

Sustainability is integral to Katherine’s design approach and the long-term accessibility of projects is always considered. The most sustainable home is the one in which people will be able to live in for life. Katherine is a member of the sustainability committee of the Australian Institute of Architecture Queensland Chapter.

Katherine has tutored second year design and currently tutors first and second year building technology at the University of Queensland Architecture Department.
