This extension along the southern side of an existing Queenslander provides a series of small comforting spaces built with recycled materials. The challenge was to get as much light and ventilation into these southern rooms and to retain the connection between the existing living area and the view of a beautiful tree to the south. The space allowed for building was only 2.8metres. The spaces step in and out along the length of the house to maintain connection to the garden. The high central roof provides plenty of light and ventilation. The television room is just large enough for a couch when closed. However the space expands into the adjacent play deck when the doors are open. Project Architect at Jeremy Salmon Architect. Photography by Gary Tischer.
